PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Every year the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce honors a business person who has shown significant contributions and impact to the community of Los Gatos. This year I was chosen as the Los Gatos Business Person of the Year, an
award for which I am honored and grateful.
Travel Advisors of Los Gatos has been advising travelers since 1961, when
I went into business with Brad and June Honholt, from whom I eventually bought the business. My staff and I have greatly enjoyed being able to share firsthand knowledge of the world with clients, and to help make clients’ travel as educational and enjoyable as possible.
Travel Advisors successfully survived the advent of the Internet and 9/11; and I am grateful for our continued success today. That success comes from the fact that Los Gatos truly is a community, and the Travel Advisors family knows many, many of its members.
Since 1957, when I first came to Los Gatos, I’ve loved it here. It’s a great town, and it’s a great place to have a business. This was where I chose to live and raise my family. I have always tried to contribute to community life and help to make Los Gatos even better; and I am thankful for the opportunities I’ve had.
It’s great to be a Rotarian. I was invited to join the Rotary Club of Los Gatos in 1966. I became a member as a way of participating in the community. Although age has made me less active, I still want to give back. Travel Advisors often helps non-profit organizations by donating a cruise for fundraising activities. I am also proud to be a sponsor of Los Gatos Jazz on the Plazz, helping to bring music and education to our town.
I am pleased to have been a long-time employer in town, and am very grateful to our employees and outside sales representatives.
I also thank all of our clients. Your continued loyalty in booking with Travel Advisors has made it possible for me to continue to give back to our community.
Using Travel Advisors, a local business, to book your travel is also a
way that you can support our community. By keeping business local and spending money locally, you help ensure that our town continues to thrive. In the 1950s and 1960s the advent of shopping centers and freeways saw most people detour from downtown areas. Great efforts on the part of the Town Council led to the thriving community we have today. Monies spent in local business help keep our town beautiful and bustling. Thank you for your support.
